Cocoa Derivatives Market Size, Share and Demand Report 2028
Cocoa derivatives are products which are derived from cocoa. The major cocoa derivatives include cocoa butter, cocoa beans, cocoa powder, cocoa liquor, etc. These derivatives are produced by the processing of cocoa. Cocoa processing involves several steps, from harvesting cocoa beans, fermentation, drying, roasting, winnowing, etc.
The trend of clean and clear labelling products is increasing
across the globe. An understandable and clear ingredient label provides great
opportunities to add value to the food product. Companies claim that their
products are made using natural fruit/vegetables on the front side of the
packaging to attract consumers. Moreover, manufacturers are reducing the usage
of chemical additives such as emulsifiers and preservatives in cocoa products.
Many companies utilize sunflower lecithin, a healthier and cleaner ingredient
in cocoa products, as consumers demand clean labels. According to Global Clean
Label Consumer Study 2019 by Ingredion, 78% of 600 consumers said it is
important to know the ingredients before purchasing a product. According to the
Institute of Food Technologists Organization, in 2018, more than 50% of product
launches claimed to be clean labels across the globe. Furthermore, with the
rising demand for clean-label products, manufacturers are launching different
clean-label cocoa-based products. For instance, in September 2019, Barry
Callebaut AG launched its clean-label cocoa powder from chicory root fibers.
Additionally, they have launched a cocoa powder named 'Bensdorp Clean'. It is
formulated using baking soda instead of alkalizing agents, which makes the
brand more suitable and marks it as a clean label. Thus, rising demand for
clean-label products is emerging as a significant trend in the overall cocoa
derivatives market.
